Printing Client Addresses On Labels

Introduction

The bills printed by RTG Bills can be used with window envelopes, so you don't need to print envelopes or labels. However, if you prefer to print envelopes for your client bills, you can do that from within RTG Bills. Choose:

Bills > Envelopes
from the RTG Bills menu.

To print labels instead of envelopes, you can use your word processing software to merge the client names and addresses from RTG Bills with a standard label format. This page explains how to do it.

Creating A List

The first step is to export the client information. There are two possibilities:

  1. All Clients
To export the names and addresses of all clients, start RTG Bills and choose:
    File > Export > To Comma-Delimited
The export window shows the folder ("directory") where the names and addresses will be written. Click Export. The name of the file is always Address.txt.

  2. Last Billing
You can export the names and addresses for clients whose matters were last billed on a specific Cutoff Date. Generally you would do this to create labels for the bills. Start RTG Bills and choose:
    Bills > Export Mailing Addresses
Choose the Matters and Cutoff Date just as you would if you were reprinting the bills. Click Export. The name of the file, Mail.txt, and the number of addresses are shown. Click OK.

Whichever method you choose, you'll have a text file with names and addresses in comma-separated values (CSV) format. You can look at them with Notepad if you wish.

We have provided separate instructions for Corel WordPerfect and Microsoft Word.
