RTG Bills Sends Bills By E-MailSanta Monica, California; July 13, 2004 -- RTG has announced a new release of RTG Bills, its time and billing software for small law firms. RTG Bills can create a PDF file of a client's bill and, as an option, send the PDF file to the client as an e-mail attachment. Using the familiar PDF format ensures that the client can read the bill, and that the bill retains the same format as the paper bill. Another new feature is the ability to edit a viewed bill. Double-clicking any transaction on the bill displays a dialog box that allows editing the transaction. After changes are made and saved, RTG Bills recreates the bill with the changes included. In addition, many reports allow editing the items on the report. For example, a list of matters can be edited by double-clicking any matter. A list of unbilled fees and expenses can be edited by double-clicking any fee or expense transaction. Other new features in this release include: the ability to print the bills or prebills for one billing timekeeper; an option to eliminate the printing of prebills that have no balance due and no new fees and expenses; staggered billing, to group matters for billing at different times during the month; and an option to minimize RTG Timer to the system tray, so it doesn't take up space on the taskbar. RTG Bills and RTG Timer cost $95, which includes one license for RTG Timer. RTG's Web site offers free upgrades from the previous release. RTG Bills is designed for law firms and sole practitioners. It combines the ease-of-use of Windows with the power and reliability of a relational database. RTG Timer, included with RTG Bills, uses a computerized "stopwatch" so that attorneys can time their work as they perform it. RTG Timer can communicate with RTG Bills over a network, or it can be used independently on a notebook computer or a home PC. Related products include RTG Timer HE for fee and expense entry on a Palm OS device, RTG Timer ME for fee and expense entry on a Windows Mobile or Pocket PC device, RTG E-Bills for the creation of electronic bills, and RTG Scripts for automating tasks in RTG Bills.
